Vermillion Area News – March 9,2009

Seven Tops members weighed in and they all stayed for the meeting Monday evening, March 2. Marylyn Wenzl earned the diet basket. We had election of officers as follows: Leader-Martha Thompson, Co-leader-Janet Ronnebaum, Treasurer-Phyllis Hasenkamp, Secretary-Marylyn Wenzl, weight recorder-Thelma Gaddis and Lois Jean Harper and Edna Marshall and Dee Van Dorn on the Installation Committee. Edna Marshall had the program and gave us a test on Motivation.

A large group attended the March Birthday coffee at Leeâ??s Café Wednesday morning, March 4th. Those having birthdays are Corky Johnson of South Dakota, Ernie Wenzl, Bill and Audrey Broxterman and Phyllis Wullschleger.

Brad Schober of Centralia visited Daisy Schober Sunday afternoon.

Glen Isaman attended visitation for Walter Vernon in Centralia Friday evening.

Eleven Hotsie Totsie Red Hat ladies held their regular monthly meeting at Leeâ??s Café Saturday morning, March 7th. Final plans were made for the St. Patrick Parade in Lillis, March 14th. We are to be in Lillis at one p.m. to decorate. Everyone signed a â??missing youâ? card for JoAnn Dannels who lives in Florida. We voted to go to the new Willows Steak house in Seneca, April 1. Arletta Bramhall, Betty Wenzl and Carole Bennett furnished snacks. Next meeting will be April 4th at Leeâ??s Café.

John and Connie Smith of Manhattan visited Glen Isaman Saturday afternoon.

Craig Young returned to his home in Houston, Texas on Thursday after visiting Mable White several days.

Mandy and Dave Valburg of Westmoreland announced the birth of their son Noah Charles on March 2nd. He weighed 9 pounds 2 ounces. He has two sisters, Veronica and Allie, grandparents Nancy and Charles Valburg of Westmoreland and Ron and Vicki Lee of Hoyt, Kansas and great grandparents Bob and Tim Lee of Vermillion to welcome him home.

Vermillion Library Board will meet on March 11th at 9:00 a.m. The public is invited to attend.

The â??After School Clubâ? brought pictures of their homes and families to put in their scrap books last Wednesday afternoon. Some of those who were absent the week before made their State of Kansas page which included book marks of the state bird, song, reptile and others. After finishing their scrapbook page they all played outside.
